Should we raise girls to become mothers?

I know, I know. I have probably offended someone. But it really wasn't too long ago that motherhood was encouraged.

Need proof?

In the West, why can't we look at a young girl as someone who ought to be raised and encouraged to carry out her special function of bringing the most capable and beneficial next generation into the world? Why should a girl instead be encouraged to hone in on whatever Hollywood culture tells her is the "in" crowd she should gravitate to, and why should she be raised to take on an identity of free-spirit homewrecker?

On the other side of the coin, why should a young girl be encouraged to not take advantage of her unique child-birthing ability? Why should she pursue a highly-paid profession where, in consequence, we discriminate against men just so that the number employed in such a position is balanced by gender? What is the point? And why should we welcome the consequences of a saturated job market, which is what all this leads to?

How is any of this in society's best interests?
