Finally: Germany to reintroduce border controls

Now facing 5,813 cases of the COVID-19-causing coronavirus within the state, the German government has finally decided to do something. As a result, the Schengen Zone and the right to the movement of peoples is on its deathbed.

Reuters:
Germany will temporarily introduce border controls on its frontiers with Austria, Switzerland, France, Luxembourg and Denmark from Monday, the government said on Sunday as the country seeks to curb a rapid spread of coronavirus.
For weeks, the government sat on its hands and refused to take action, putting commerce and globalism above the health and safety of the German people.

Had these border-securing actions taken place two or three weeks earlier, it would make sense that the country's main governing party, the open-borders, multiculturalism-first Christian Democratic Union (CDU), is currently polling no better or worse than earlier (1, 2). I cannot even begin to understand what the Germans are thinking. Do they not understand whose ideology-driven inaction, and incompetent leadership, is responsible for the internal restrictions on movement All Germans now face? Tja, selber Schuld!
